Meet Our Team

Joel Novak | Pendleton Studio

PT, DPT, CSCS

Joel Novak is an orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapist with nearly 20 years of clinical experience. Joel holds a doctorate in physical therapy and is certified in strength and conditioning through the National Strength & Conditioning Association. Joel is a certified instructor in Blood Flow Restriction training. He also has advanced education in the diagnosis and treatment of movement and muscle imbalances with the Functional Movement Systems.

As a team Physical Therapist for the Indy Eleven USL soccer team, as well as the Indy Fuel ECHL hockey team, and Fishers Freight IFL football team Joel has worked closely with professional athletes, as well as student-athletes from surrounding school systems. 

Joel is an assistant professor at Quincy University in the Doctoral PT program and has regularly educated graduate students as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Indianapolis for the Krannert School of Physical Therapy.

Joel enjoys working with an active population of all ages. He is the owner and content editor of My Performance Rehab and a physical therapist in the Northeast Indianapolis area of Hamilton and Madison counties. He is blessed to be treating patients part time in partnership with Grace In Motion in Pendleton, Indiana. 

Ryan Sellers | Pendleton Studio

OWNER, PERSONAL TRAINER

Ryan received his BS in Exercise Science and Business from Taylor University and his Masters in Wellness Management from Ball State University. His personal journey - including managing Type 1 Diabetes, Osteoporosis, and undergoing five major neck surgeries between 2017 and 2023 - fuels his passion for holistic sports performance training.

Ryan is committed to empowering student athletes to excel through mastery of mobility, movement quality, strength, and speed and agility conditioning. He provides not only advanced training and nutrition guidance, but also accountability, progress tracking and mentorship.

Ryan believes true performance is rooted in the integration of faith and discipline. He encourages athletes to lean into God’s goodness and the finished work of Christ, seeking God’s wisdom, strength, and purpose to achieve beyond what we can dream or imagine with our lives. He inspires his clients to pursue academic excellence, develop a personal relationship with Christ through prayer and scripture, and actively engage in a faith community - principles he sees as essential to servant leadership and reaching one’s full potential on and off the field. Each week, Ryan incorporates three key resources into training sessions: the Bible, The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, and Atomic Habits by James Clear, ensuring a well-rounded approach to growth and excellence.

Nick Gillay | Pendleton Studio

HEALTH COACH & PERSONAL TRAINER

Nick holds a B.S. IN Exercise Science & is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. He is a health coach, spiritual mentor, and United States Air Force Reservist currently transitioning into the Air Force Chaplain Corps, where he will unite pastoral care with military service. He is pursuing his Master of Divinity at Indiana Wesleyan University and has been recognized for excellence in military readiness, earning Top Performer honors at the Air Force’s Integrated Deployment Combat Leadership pre‑deployment training in June 2025.

An ACE Certified Personal Trainer with a background in spiritual formation, Nick blends physical wellness, emotional resilience, and biblical guidance in his work. As a Personal Trainer/Health Coach with Grace in Motion, he integrates structured spiritual disciplines with individualized fitness programming to help clients grow holistically—body, mind, and spirit. He also mentors high school athletes, guiding them in character development, faith, and performance.

His own dramatic transformation journey strengthens his credibility as a coach. After rising from 180 lbs to 330 lbs, he committed to a disciplined, year‑long cut that brought him down to 195 lbs, where he earned 2nd Place in Men’s Physique at the NPC Natural Indiana in 2024. His willingness to share this journey allows him to relate deeply to clients facing weight‑loss, lifestyle change, and long‑term discipline challenges.

He holds numerous achievements in bodybuilding and strength‑sport competitions.

Nick’s earlier work includes serving geriatric clients as a Life Enrichment Coach and Wellness Coordinator at Aegis Therapies, where he provided rehabilitative exercise, grief counseling, biblical teaching, and end‑of‑life spiritual support. He also leads community ministries, including founding a young men’s Bible study, serving in prison ministry, and participating in mission and disaster‑relief efforts.

Across every environment - clinical, athletic, pastoral, or military - Nick brings a rare combination of discipline, compassion, theological depth, and lived experience. His calling is to help people grow stronger physically, spiritually, and emotionally through a Christ‑centered, whole‑person approach.

Lindsay Waterman | Unified Group Services & Pendleton Studio

HEALTH COACH & PERSONAL TRAINER

Lindsay holds a B.S. in Psychology & an M.A. in Counseling. She brings a holistic approach to our sports performance team that blends physical training with mindset and personal growth. She has served as a Health Coach with Grace in Motion for over 6 years and enjoys helping individuals build strength, confidence, and sustainable healthy habits. With a master’s degree in counseling, she can connect with athletes on a deeper level, supporting not only their physical performance but also their mental resilience.

As a former collegiate volleyball player, she understands firsthand the discipline, commitment and challenges that come with competitive sports. She is especially passionate about helping young athletes develop strong character and confidence both on and off the field/court, as well as tackle the mental health aspects of the game. She has several years of coaching experience and truly has a mission to equip athletes to perform at their best while growing into strong, confident individuals in ALL aspects of their life.

Jared Burke | Pendleton Studio

PERSONAL TRAINER

Jared graduated from PHHS in 2011. He went on to Purdue University to receive his B.S. in Agribusiness Management and later, Indiana Wesleyan to receive a master's in ministry.

Jared enjoys shepherding others closer to Christ! He does this by assisting with a local high school ministry, leading Bible studies for students that he mentors, helping coach the high school cross country team, and simply staying actively involved in the lives of the those he leads.

Jared’s dedication to health and fitness truly inspires others. Jared now serves as a personal trainer at Grace in Motion, where he helps clients achieve their fitness goals.

Emily Weaver | Pendleton Studio

HEALTH COACH & PERSONAL TRAINER

Emily graduated from Pendleton Heights, then went on to receive her B.S. degree from Purdue University. Faith, fitness, and family are at the center of everything Emily does. She has been a Health Coach with Grace In Motion for over 5 years and has a passion for helping our clients improve performance through exercise, strength training, proper stretching and nutrition. As a mother of 3 athletic sons, she’s spent years supporting athletes both on and off the field. She’s passionate about helping the next generation become stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually while sharing the love of Jesus along the way.

As a former cross country and track athlete, she gained firsthand experience in discipline, endurance, mental toughness, and the importance of proper training. Those experiences continue to shape the way she mentors athletes today.

Brent Kinsey | Pendleton Studio

PERSONAL TRAINER

Brent holds a BS in Physical Education, as well as both a Master’s degree and a PhD in Educational Administration.

He joins Grace In Motion with over 30 years of leadership experience in education. Throughout his career in central Indiana, he served with distinction as a teacher, principal, coach and mentor.

Drawing on his extensive background in leadership and coaching, he is passionate about motivating and inspiring others to achieve their personal best.

Grounded in his own fitness journey, Brent is committed to integrating faith and wellness, encouraging athletes to grown both physically and spiritually.
